What does a concreter do?

As a concretert you would work in the construction industry on residential or commercial buildings.

Here’s what your day-to-day would be like as a concreter. You will:

  • Work on site a building site

What’s it like working as a concreter?

As a concreter, you’ll work outside on a daily basis. Most concreter jobs are full time, at 40 hours per week.

You should enjoy working with your hands and be able to do the job in hot or cold climates. You’ll need good physical fitness and the ability to work in a team.

You’ll also need to memorise the health and safety rules and follow your supervisor’s instructions. Injury and illness can be a risk in this job, which is why safety is so important.

Entry reqs

Good news—there are no educational requirements for the Certificate III in Concreting! You don’t need a high school certificate or a certain grade average.

However, there are a few other boxes you have to tick. You must be at least 16 years old. You have to be able to speak, read and write English and you’ll sit a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test before you begin the certificate.

You also have to complete WHS Induction Training and get your White Card before you begin.

What’s it like to study concreting?

The Certificate III in Concreting takes just two years to complete full time. You’ll study face-to-face with your employer and a CWBTS trainer. For this career, learning on the job is the best way to learn.

You’ll also do some tests and assessments at various points in time that you, your trainer and employer agree upon.
