The Road Construction and Maintenance Stream of the RII30920 Certificate III in Civil Construction covers a range of skills for operators in the Civil Construction Industry.

You will also learn how to work safely on a construction site. After successfully completing this course you will have a solid

foundation of the skills and knowledge needed to work in the civil construction industry.

Career Pathways


The qualification applies to the specialist occupation of road construction and maintenance.

Successful completion of this qualification will provide learners with requirements to become a qualified road maintenance worker in the civil construction industry.

Entry Requirements


There are no educational entry requirements for this qualification, however participants must:

  • Be 15 years old or over (if you’re under 18, your parent or guardian must sign the enrolment form on your behalf).
  • Be competent in written and spoken English. All prospective students will undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) evaluation prior to commencing the training.
  • Be an Apprentice and have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).
  • Be registered with an Apprenticeship Centre and have a training agreement with a registered employer from a relevant industry.

Before enrolling in this course, you must successfully complete the WHS Induction Training (CGIT Card/White Card etc) which will allow you entry into a construction worksite.

Duration


The standard course duration is 36 months full time completed on-the-job within an apprenticeship. However, duration may vary depending on individual circumstances.

Demonstration, Observation, Oral Question, Third Party Evidence.

Assessment Methods


This program is hands on and will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to undertake a range of manual tasks and operate machinery on construction sites. After successfully completing this course, you will have a solid foundation of the skills and knowledge needed to work in the civil construction industry.

This course is delivered with both theory and practical elements, with a mixture of classroom, group discussions, and individual research.

Assessments are completed to measure your skills and knowledge against the training qualification requirements and those of the industry. The assessment process will include written and practical presentations, observation and classroom participation and will require some time away from the training rooms completing assignments.
